Chevrolet Silverado is Fixture of Veit’s Fleet

DETROIT – For more than 85 years Veit, a heavy industrial construction company, has relied on Chevrolet trucks to help it do the tough jobs that not many other companies can do. The company’s commitment to Chevrolet began with the owner’s grandfather when the company opened in 1928, and continues today with the Silverados in its fleet.

Veit’s business encompasses diverse site construction services ranging from the deconstruction of an abandoned ore dock that required years of preparation to the earthwork and pile installation for the construction of a new stadium.  The company has earned a reputation for innovative solutions to challenging site construction projects.

The construction company’s fleet includes both light-duty and heavy-duty Silverados, which consistently reach more than 200,000 miles. Approximately a dozen of the pickups have racked up more than 300,000 miles. Veit attributes the durability and longevity of the trucks not just to their quality, but to the company’s commitment to vehicle maintenance and proper driver training.

“The work we do is diverse and rugged, so we need a vehicle that can match our needs,” said Chuck Geisler, executive manager of sales and marketing, Veit. “With its proven dependability, the Silverado is the vehicle for us.”

The heavy-duty pickups pull equipment that weighs more than 10,000 pounds. The light-duty pickups serve as mobile offices with laptops and internet connections available for drivers to ensure that time is not lost and business continues to move forward while on the job site.

“The Silverado is a proven workhorse on the job site, and Veit’s experience is a testament to the long-term reliability and durability of the pickup,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, Fleet and Commercial Sales.

The Veit story is the first segment in the 2013 GM Fleet and Commercial “Stories from the Road” advertising campaign. This is the second year of the series, which uses on-the-job customer examples to illustrate how businesses use GM vehicles to succeed.
